God Made Them Male and Female

God Made Them Male and Female

This is a statement made by Jesus as He quoted from the book of Genesis. Then He continued, “For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh; so then they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Let not man separate
No Longer Two

Fourteen years ago

Fourteen years ago I became a widower. It is something that I wish for no one. But, I rested my faith in my heavenly Father and cast all my cares on Him. I was convinced that He wanted nothing but the best for me, even though there seemed to be a part in me that felt so empty. There were times that I almost made the wrong turns and as I consider those times I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit and His faithful guidance and working in my life. Through it all He worked a wondrous miracle for me.

The shall become one

Thirteen years ago today God worked a miracle and filled the emptiness that was in me. I do not mean the kind of emptiness that leaves a person hopeless, but the emptiness of not being all that God wants one to be. God wanted me to be a special blessing to some special one, and He wanted that special one to be a blessing to me. Ephesians 3:20 says this: :Unto Him Who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that can ask or imagine, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus.” Well, that is exactly what God did for me. I could never have imagined how wonderful and loving and kind a person could be whom God brought into my life.

Exceeding abundantly above

This precious woman exudes the love of God without limit. She is not only a loving and caring wife, she is a loving mother and daughter. You see, she still has the care of a grown son who though physically is sound and capable, but has memory damage in his brain due to an auto accident in 1998. She would not give up her love or responsibility for him. I knew then that this woman knew how to love without limit. I was drawn even more to her.

A year into our marriage she asked if we could invite her widowed mother to come live with us. Her brothers, in Milwaukee, could not shoulder the responsibility of caring for her and their families, too. What love my wife has! My love for her grew even more. Sure! Let’s go get her. A year later, my wife spent her own money to build a house for her mother right next to ours.

And then to add to all of this she works forty hours a week even when she has to work with aching feet.

But, even above all of this, she loves me with a love that I have never known on this earth. Her love is founded in the love of God. She loves me even when I mess up, and that is more often than you might think. She loves me even when I do not seem to measure up. She loves me when I am dirty and grimy. To put it into words best, she loves me the way God loves me.

Two have become one

No longer two, but one

Today, August 5, 2018, we are celebrating 13 years of being one. It took us only five weeks after first meeting face to face, to know that God had put us together. We first met face to face on July 1, 2005, in Orlando, FL. Five weeks later we were married on August 5, 2005. The Lord filled the empty spot in my life. We know that God has made us one, not just in flesh, but in spirit, too.

We continue to grow as one in all that we do. We are one in our daily confessions. We are one in our expectations. We are one in our service to our family and our loved ones.

I am not complete without her. She is not complete without me.

Because God has joined us together, there is nothing in all of creation that can separate us. How do I know that, you ask. I can know that because my first love is my Lord Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus lives in my precious wife. I know that my wife’s first love is Jesus. I know that Jesus lives in me. Jesus’ love is everlasting.

Thank you Lord for giving me a wife that loves you and because of that she loves me with a devine love.

May You bless her and prosper her in all that she does. May Your grace overflow in her life so that all who come around her are aware that they are in the presence of the living God of the universe, because You dwell in her.
